Prof. Subhash Anand is a distinguished academician and currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Geography at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. With nearly three decades of teaching and research experience, he has made significant contributions to the fields of environmental geography, sustainability, geoheritage, geotourism, and urban environmental studies. He has published 16 books with reputed publishers such as Springer, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and Research India Press, along with more than 130 research papers, articles, and book chapters in high-impact national and international journals. His scholarly work reflects a deep engagement with contemporary environmental and developmental challenges through interdisciplinary and geospatial approaches.
Prof. Anand has held several prestigious academic and administrative positions at national and international levels. He serves as Editor of the Springer Series on Advances in Geographical & Environmental Sciences (Scopus indexed), Associate Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Geoheritage and Parks (Elsevier), and Co-Chair of the Commission on Geoheritage under the International Geographical Union (IGU). At the University of Delhi, he has served as Chairperson of the Governing Bodies of Satyawati College, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, and Kalindi College, in addition to holding positions such as Treasurer of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Dyal Singh College, and Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), and Executive Member of Miranda House. He is also Vice-President of the Indian Geographical Society (IGS), Advisor to the Centre of Himalayan Studies (CHS) and Warden of Jubilee Hall. His involvement in UGC & NEP-2020 curriculum committees, as well as in various academic boards and institutional bodies, highlights his leadership and enduring contributions to higher education and geographical scholarship.
Prof. Anand has supervised numerous theses and dissertations focusing on rural-urban sustainability, geotourism, public health, climate vulnerability, and environmental conservation. He has led and collaborated on several major national and international research projects funded by different organizations. In recognition of his academic excellence and societal contributions, he has received several prestigious honors.
